Self Portrait, 2016

This project was created as a digital self portrait that attempts to counter the appropriation and commodification of the self(image) in a state of digitized surveillance where the individual becomes inextricable from their representation of themselves. How might the self be reclaimed as a private, analogous identity through the abstraction of selfies? What does it say about us when our self image is no longer recognizable as a "self"?
