Chimera Display was created as a supplementary display typeface for California College of the Arts. It was created in-house, while I was working as a Visual Designer in their Marketing & Communications department. Taking its name from the student body’s chimera mascot, Chimera Display represents the interdisciplinary, dual nature of the institution’s pedagogical approach, between craft and design, form and function, theory and practice. Its contrasting forms pull from the countours of its existing fonts and rectilinear brand assets, with organic flourishes nodding at the school’s roots in the Arts & Crafts movement.
